Every time I had to go out and water my lawn, I always had in mind that one day, I would install an irrigation system with a water timer. I moved on and decided to install one and after a few researcheson the web, I chosed the B-Hyve WiFi Timer by Orbit which is offered in a 6 or 12 zones model.
WiFi Water Timer
I have to admit that I wanted a system that could be up to date with technology since everything around us is getting there. When I came across the Orbit B-Hyve WiFi Timer, I figured out I’d have something decent for the investment. The system has a WiFi connection and can be easily controlled by the B-Hyve App on your smart phone wherever you are. The system itself also has Smart Home compatibility with the Amazon Alexa.
Smart Water Timer
Orbit has developped a technology called WeatherSense which actually works pretty good. It can connect your timer to your local weather so that you don’t have to water if there is rain in the forecast. It puts your system in a delayed watering mode or adjust itself to give the right amount of water to your lawn and flowers.
B-Hyve App
The B-Hyve app supported by iOS or Android is pretty simple and easy to use. You have the option to manually water any of your zones or set up to 3 different programs that will start automatically whenever you want.
Disadvantage
The only negative aspect I found about the water timer is that when you program an irrigation cycle, you have to respect the order of your zones. For example, you can’t start the zone 4 and then start zone 2 in your cycle.
The solution I found was to install each zone on the pannel in the order I wanted them to be watering. As you can see in the picture, the operation is quite simple. You only have to put your wires in the different slots.
Ever thought of having a Smart Water Timer? If not, you should consider it since it gives you the chance to concentrate your effort in having a nice lawn elsewhere.
